Day 1
Morning 8am – Drive to Somoto City
Afternoon – Doughnut Making
On every corner of every city in Nicaragua you can find ladies selling small doughnuts. All these doughnuts come from one house in Somoto City. We will spend the afternoon with locals learning how they make these tasty little treats enjoyed by everyone.
Evening – Hotel Finca Mejia Check In and Time on Your Own
The hotel is located approximately 3 kilometers outside of the city on the bank of “Rio Coco”. Flowing from its home in Honduras through Northern Nicaragua and ending in the Atlantic Ocean, the river is home to Miskito Indians. The woman use the river for washing clothes while the men bring their livestock to drink. The stars are brilliant, the air is fresh, and the parrots are abundant. A perfect way to relax at the end of your day.
Meals included today are lunch and dinner.
Day 2
Morning 8am – Horseback Ride to Somoto Canyon National Monument
We will enjoy a 1 hour ride along the river bank, crossing through the river at various locations until we reach Somoto Canyon. Declared a national monument in 2005 the actual canyon area is 310 acres of a total 420 acres of protected land. Leaving the horses at the shore, we will take a 30 minute boat ride deeper into the canyon until we reach the first pool. We will walk and take inner tubes through two more pools until we reach the fourth and largest pool of them all. Here you will have plenty of time to enjoy the pristine canyon and the cool refreshing water of Rio Coco.
Afternoon – Hotel Check Out and Return Drive and Good Bye
Meals included today are breakfast and lunch.

Cost of Your Tour
- 1 to 2 people – $500 US in total
- 3 to 4 people – $900 US in total
50% deposit must be paid in advance in US dollars through Western Union and remaining will be collected during the tour.
